Allistair Burt’s Storytelling Machine was designed “for the permanent art collection of the Shetland Museum and Gallery in Lerwick. The machine was housed in an old battered suitcase with a gramophone horn sticking out the top. A storyteller chooses a marble, rolls it down a shoot and when it hits the bottom a story plays out the horn. With the flick of a switch, the machine can also detect and listen in to Trows (Shetland Trolls).”
